WORLD OF WARCRAFT: FOREVER · CLASS GUIDE

Mage
Control the battlefield through arcane power. This hub will grow from levelling into builds, PvE, PvP, gear and professions as Forever data is verified.
PRE-LAUNCH GUIDE · UPDATED 23 SEPTEMBER 2026
Levelling 1–60
Mage levelling coverage will track spell and talent milestones through 1–60, including where control, mobility and damage tools materially change the route. Orc Mage and High Order Skyborne Mage are confirmed launch options.
PRE-LAUNCH RESEARCHTalents & Builds
Build recommendations will carry clear update dates while beta tuning continues to change.
BETA-SENSITIVEPvE
Dungeon and raid builds, rotations and preparation will be added from verified encounter data.
LAUNCH DATA REQUIREDPvP
PvP talents, matchups and gearing will be maintained separately from PvE recommendations.
BETA-SENSITIVEGear
Useful upgrades and eventual BiS lists will be organised by content phase and source.
PHASED GUIDEProfessions & Reference
Profession advice will consider levelling utility, crafted gear, consumables and Forever's expanded profession/Camping systems. Recommendations will remain playstyle-aware instead of treating an inherited Classic pairing as automatically correct.
IN RESEARCHMAGE · PRE-LAUNCH FIELD GUIDEPlaying a Mage in Forever
A practical first-pass guide built from confirmed Forever information. Final talents, rotations, stat priorities and best-in-slot recommendations will be added after live verification.
CLASS IDENTITY
Mages are fragile ranged spellcasters who trade physical durability for powerful frost, fire and arcane magic. Positioning, control and efficient spell use should matter throughout Forever's slower world-focused journey.
RACE OPTIONS
Confirmed Horde Mage choices are Orc, Troll and Undead. Alliance choices are Gnome, Human and High Order Skyborne. Orc Mage is a new Forever combination, while High Order Skyborne gain Mage as their faction-specific class.
WHO SHOULD PLAY IT?
Choose Mage if you prefer ranged spell damage, control and planning over melee durability. The class rewards players comfortable managing distance and resources rather than absorbing mistakes with armour.
SKYBORNE
High Order Skyborne can become Mages and begin on Zephras Isle from levels 1–12. Windshaper Skyborne cannot choose Mage, making this one of the clearest class differences between the two Skyborne factions.
FOREVER SYSTEM TO WATCHForever gives spellcaster-oriented weapons spell damage and healing, making weapon upgrades more meaningful during levelling than they traditionally were for casters. Exact stat weighting still needs live testing.
Preparing for 1–60
EARLY JOURNEY
Use the opening levels to learn the class's core resource flow, survival tools and combat rhythm. Keep useful equipment current rather than following a pre-launch speed route built on assumptions.
LEVEL 25+
Forever's account-wide Legacy System normally unlocks when your first character reaches level 25. A Mage main can establish that progression naturally without requiring an alt first.
RULESET
Forever asks you to choose a ruleset rather than a traditional realm. Pick the environment that matches how you actually want to level and play, particularly if open PvP would materially change your experience.
LEVEL 60
At launch this section will expand into tested builds, gearing, PvE, PvP and activity-specific recommendations. Until then we are separating confirmed systems from beta-dependent optimisation.
